On the region were manufactured boat engines such as Björklund, Dahlman, Enbacka, Finlandia, Fäbo-Frans, Holländer, Jahco, Kempe, Krohn, Kruth, Ramstedt, Regal, Slotte, Strengberg, Ström, Svaj, Backman, Nylund, Cederberg, Lillkvist and Svenfors. The world’s only ring motor manufactured in 1934 was made in Jakobstad.

The Engine Museum located in Alholmen is the largest boat engine museum in the country. On display there are 250 in and outboard motors.

In the years between 1917 and 1960 in Jakobstad have been manufactured 18 various boat engines, out of which 17 are included in the collection. In the museum you can find for instance the world’s only ring motor manufactured in Jakobstad in 1934, which has 6 ring-shaped plungers, and the unique kicker with a wooden rig and chain-operated propellers, manufactured in 1917. There are also about 50 unique motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles equipped with an auxiliary engine, and penny-farthings. You can admire the classic brands like AJS, Ariel, BSA, NSU, Zundapp, Victoria, Douglas, Panther, Terrot, Harley Davidson, Maico and Jawa.

On the basement floor is also the old repair workshop of legendary glassblower and mechanic Emanuel Lillkvist. Here you can see for instance a small turning lathe dating back to the late 19th century.
